about organised joy

Tanya is an experienced Professional Organiser, Certified master KonMari® Consultant, and qualified positive psychology coach

tanya’s story

Tanya’s professional experience spans finance, entrepreneurship and design. She spent twelve years in sales on the trading floor of a large investment bank and co-founded a home furnishings search website.

Organised Joy was born out of Tanya’s passion for Marie Kondo’s philosophy, love of interior design and her belief that life is too short to settle. After stumbling upon Spark Joy by Marie Kondo in her local bookshop in 2016, she followed the KonMari Method® to organise her flat. Against Tanya’s more cynical instincts, she fell in love with the “life-changing magic” of the process. Confronting every single thing she owned gave her a powerful sense of achievement, confidence and clarity about what brought her joy.

She eventually stepped off a career ladder that was both comfortable and exhausting because it did not align with her values. Five years, a career change, two young daughters and a global pandemic later, Tanya retrained with Marie Kondo’s company. With over 1,500 hours of client experience she is now recognised as a Master KonMari® Tidying Consultant and a Positive Psychology Coach. Understanding the nuances of confronting our stuff and prioritising our well-being, Tanya is committed to helping her clients lead a more organised joyful life.

The KonMari Method®

The KonMari Method® is a special one-time tidying festival created by Marie Kondo. Her approach to tidying has been a transformative reset for many people worldwide. You might be familiar with her Netflix series (Tidying Up with Marie Kondo and Sparking Joy) or her bestselling books (The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up and Spark Joy.) Tanya motivates you to move forward in your tidying festival when you might otherwise lose steam. After choosing to keep only those things that spark joy, you inevitably create space (both physical and mental) for more joy in your life!

There are a wealth of professional organisers each with their unique approach. As a Master KonMari® Tidying Consultant, Tanya is fully trained in guiding clients through this process with over 1,500 hours of client experience.

The Organised Joy Way

Organised Joy is a one-to-one at-home service where the KonMari® principles are applied to your unique needs. No one size fits all approach here.

Tanya’s mission is to uncover what brings you joy, supporting you as you re-examine your relationship with your possessions and make space for the things that truly matter to you. Decluttering and organisation are tools to be used, never the goal itself. The goal is nothing less than the lifestyle you desire!

Tanya brings her extensive experience, enthusiasm, practical know-how and eye for detail to sessions. She is there to support and guide you through the tiring process of making decisions. She provides hands-on help and guidance when folding clothes, organising bookshelves, storing kitchenware and so on. It must be a collaborative effort because only you can decide if something sparks joy for you. If you are ready to trust in the process, this intentional and radical decluttering and organising event has a finish line. Ready to see what you can achieve with an experienced professional by your side?

 Organised Joy is zero judgement.

We all hang on to stuff (not to mention jobs and relationships). Tanya motivates clients with empathy and never judges them on their individual journey.

Organised Joy is infused with fun.

Organisation might involve hard work but shouldn’t be something to dread. Tanya creates an enjoyable experience for clients.

Organised Joy has a coach mentality.

Tanya is a qualified coach who supports clients to celebrate their progress, develop longer-term habits they desire and find balance.

Organised Joy is Ambitious.

Tanya sees a fine line between ambition and overwhelm. Tanya wants to help driven individuals fully enjoy the time they get with family, friends and by themselves.

Organised Joy is Kind.

We all deserve a home that feels calm and joyful rather than a never-ending to-do list. Tanya reminds her clients to be kind to themselves and appreciate progress over perfection.

Organised Joy loves Home Decor.

Tanya’s detailed knowledge of the UK home furnishings market and interior design industry helps her clients optimise their storage and make their home flow.

Organised Joy is family-oriented.

Tanya created Organised Joy to help others live more joyful lives and savour time with their loved ones. Tanya is passionate about the fair division of chores and “invisible work”. Not women’s work.

Organised Joy seeks out experiences over things.

Tanya believes that processing our stuff enables us to focus on what really matters, find joyful moments each day and create lasting memories.

Organised Joy is practical.

Tanya does not create complicated systems that are hard to maintain or create unfair burdens. Divide, delegate and conquer… and involve the children!

As well as Marie Kondo’s world famous approach to tidying, Organised Joy applies positive psychology (her masters field of study) to cultivate a positive mindset, get unstuck and live intentionally.

key principles of the KonMari Method®

01

Commit yourself to tidying up

Are you willing to commit your time and effort to this process? Even with full support and guidance, you must be on board.

02

Imagine your ideal lifestyle

Your vision is your most powerful tool and the north star for your decisions. Tanya will guide you through this. The more detailed your vision, the better!

03

Finish discarding first

All storage is temporary until you finish discarding. You will have a better idea of how to store things after you have decided what to keep and what to discard.

04

Tidy by category, not by location

For example, you gather your books from across your home into a pile rather than tidying room by room. Only once you see it all together can you understand what you have too much or little of. It’s a game changer.

05

Ask yourself if it sparks joy

We focus on surrounding yourself with items that will support you in your life. Become aware of how your body responds to items when you hold them. It is about choosing to keep what ‘sparks joy’ rather than choosing what to get rid of. Tanya will guide you when you feel stuck. Just know your joy sensor will get stronger!

06

Follow the right order

1. Clothes 2. Books 3. Papers 4. Komono (miscellaneous items i.e. everything else - kitchen items, bathroom items, linens, stationery, toys, and on and on…) 5. Sentimental items. This order helps sharpen your sensitivity to joy. By the time you sort your photos and keepsakes, you will be well-versed in making decisions confidently and positively.

07

Discard with gratitude

You are encouraged to say goodbye with gratitude to items that no longer spark joy for you. This is a positive process of letting things go.

08

Complete your tidying festival in a set time period

Your tidying festival is a one-time event with a start and finish rather than an ongoing decluttering process. After you are finished, everything in your home will have a place to live. Throughout we focus on maintenance habits and systems.

09

Use what you have

Usually there is no need to purchase expensive organisation and storage solutions. More often than not, everything you require is in your home. If it sparks more joy for you, Tanya can help upgrade your storage after you declutter.
